Research group description: The research group led by Dr. Carlos Faro has an extensive know-how in protein chemistry, with a great emphasis in the study of aspartic proteinases of plant origin. More recently has focus the attention towards the discovery and production of proteins with biotechnological interest with application in the biomedical area or in the food and agriculture industry.

The main contribution for DIOMED project will be the expression and purification of recombinant proteins that will be used to feed the crystallography experiments that will be carried out by Dr. Sandra Ribeiro at IBMC- Porto (Portugal).
