NEW CTP NET, CHRISTIAN CARPÉNÉ
The network, entitled "Potential role of mediterranean diet components in the treatments of obesity, hyperlipidaemia and diabetes" has been designed to share expertise of research teams in Nutrition and Metabolism working on both sides of the Pyrenees on metabolic diseases: Obesity and diabetes and their complications.
With the support of the CTP, the coordinated action of Christian Carpené since 2003 has been mainly addressed as an essential supplement to the training of young researchers working inside the Network Teams: the learning of Science Communication in English.
In order to prepare our future scientists in the European and international level, we offer the opportunity to present their results at scientific meetings of specialists in Nutrition and Metabolism done at our respective campuses. In addittion , members are able to communicate among themselves and all their French and Spanish fellows from 8 different institutions (Agen, Barcelona, Bordeaux, Huesca, Vitoria, Pamplona, Toulouse, Zaragoza).
For the time being, there have been six annual meetings with a total of 51 oral presentations in English to an audience of beginner and expert specialists. These communications have resulted in the publication of 48 articles in English in an international scientific journal: Journal of Physiology and Biochemistry, plus 6 reviews on topics related to nutrition, diabetes or obesity. Also, a dozen papers in common between at least two members - or three members - of the network have been published in other international journals (Diabetes, Nutrition, Pharmacol Res ,..).
Our network will continue to facilitate this learning for research students in Nutrition / Metabolism working on approaches ranging from molecular pharmacology to clinical epidemiology.
Two new French-Spanish meetings, with the publication of "proceedings" are planned for 2010-2011, as well as short stay meetings of senior researchers and the organization of an international conference to be held in the coverage area of CTP.
