BioFarma Research Group: Biofarma research group is the public reference group in Spain in Pharmacology applied to preliminary drug discovery. This comes from the novelty of this scientific/technological approach in Spain and from ten years of continuous work at preliminary R&D projects in collaboration with pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies.
The group have published more than 150 scientific papers in international journals and the results coming from its research have been communicated in more than 200 contributions in several international and national meetings.
In the field of projects applied to drug R&D, the group is recognized through continous collaborations with pharmaceutical companies. This research began in 1998 with a joint drug discovery project with the Spanish Pharmaceutical Company Almirall, one of the biggest public-private collaborationship in Spain. Our group worked in target validation and pharmacological screening and the project generated a candidate compound for a new target in allergic asthma. The team have also intensive collaborations with Laboratorios Esteve and other Spanish pharmaceutical (Lacer, Ferrer, Salvat, etc) and biotechnology companies.
